A commercial maze extraction game built on procedural generation and player-driven marking systems, creating emergent storytelling through exploration and spatial awareness. Developed as a complete production exercise and commercial product, the project establishes reusable gameplay systems and a validated pipeline from concept through release and post-launch support.

Description
This project is the full development and release of a commercial maze-based extraction game, built from the ground up as both a standalone product and a complete production exercise. The game places the player inside procedurally generated maze environments where navigation, marking, and spatial awareness are core to survival and progression. Rather than relying on scripted events, the experience is designed to foster emergent storytelling through player interaction with systems, environment, and uncertainty.
At its core, the project is built around modular, reusable gameplay systems, including a procedural maze generation framework and an in-game drawing and marking system that allows players to physically interact with and interpret the environment. These systems form the foundation of gameplay, enabling each session to feel unique while reinforcing tension, disorientation, and discovery.
While the project serves as a structured exercise in full-cycle game production, the intention is not to produce a prototype or experimental build. The objective is to deliver a complete, polished, and commercially viable game suitable for release and sale on platforms such as Steam.
Purpose
The primary purpose of this project is to execute the complete lifecycle of commercial game development, from initial concept through production, release, and post-launch support. This includes not only technical and creative development, but also the creation and refinement of production infrastructure, workflows, and project management systems.
This project serves as a full practice run of the entire development sequence, with emphasis on:
- Establishing structured production pipelines
- Developing scalable and reusable gameplay systems
- Implementing project management and milestone tracking frameworks
- Practicing release preparation, marketing readiness, and deployment processes
- Delivering a complete, polished product suitable for commercial release
The project is intended to validate workflows, tools, and methodologies that will be reused and expanded in future, larger-scale projects. The lessons learned here will directly inform future development efficiency, risk management, and production planning.
Despite its role as a production exercise, the project itself is treated as a serious commercial product, with the explicit goal of producing a game that justifies a paid release.
Roadmap
- Core systems completed (procedural maze generation, drawing/marking system, player interaction)
- Playable prototype with functional gameplay loop
- Core gameplay mechanics finalized and feature-complete
- Environment art, atmosphere, and immersion systems implemented
- Full content integration and gameplay polish
- Performance optimization and stability pass
- Release preparation (store page, marketing assets, deployment pipeline)
- Release candidate build completed
- Commercial release
- Post-launch support and updates
End State
The final end state of this project is the successful release of a complete, polished, and commercially viable maze extraction game, supported by a fully established production pipeline and reusable system architecture.
By completion, the project will have achieved the following:
- A finished game suitable for commercial distribution
- Fully developed procedural and interaction systems
- A validated end-to-end production workflow
- Established project management and release infrastructure
- Documented processes and lessons learned for future projects
Equally important, the project will serve as a proven template for future development, demonstrating the ability to take a game from initial concept through full production and commercial release.
